Intention. The setting of an aim, goal or direction. This is an important step to getting your feet on your spiritual path. How can God help you if you are not clear as to where you are, what you want and need?
A powerful Intention can be set in the practice of Yoga Nidra. It is said by Dr. Swami Shankardev in his mediation on Yoga Nidra that anything in life can fail you, accept the Sankalpa set before and after the practice of Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra involves the moving of attention through the body as you relax into yourself. This is a powerful meditation if you are exhausted, worried and cannot connect with the center of your being. The relaxation is so complete that coming back into your body after a session of Yoga Nidra feels as if you have had a great rest, sleep and yet you know you were awake. Many fall asleep during this meditation until the mind trains itself to keep awareness on the practice.
Intentions are powerful and also non-judgmental. They can be as material as whether or not you have enough financial security in your life, work that feeds your Soul rather than deplete it or relationships in your life that are healthy and loving and not draining and anxiety ridden.

An absolutely necessary concomitant with your Intention is Attention. You must fuel your intention with your attention. Whatever we place our attention on GROWS, and whatever we take our attention away from begins to die. I will discuss this in more depth in a later post, but for now, do not concentrate on the negatives in your life at all. As Edgar Caye said “We all create our own Reality by what we think.” Guard what you think. You need only look at the world-confusion today to see the result of unfettered concentration.
